How do you measure time when you don't have a watch? When you are in such a situation where time remains slipping out bashfully. Furthermore when you know that it is not up to you because you arrived early or just at time. Just for a moment, you could consider the chances of time and evasion: the knowledge of a fact, if the other doesn't arrive, you could stand up and go. And, after that, depending on the circumstances, you could demand that improper behavior, pretending to be affected or in a funny way.
You can figure the ticking on the heels of a waiter in the bar or on that slow music that, you know, could be Piaff. But, How long this song will last? You wait until it finishes or maybe another one, without thinking of a thing. You stare at those pictures hanged on the wall. They are not hooked on you or they are staring at you vividly. The worst are those pointing at you or the ones laughing misteriosly, like hidding a guffaw.
In other table, a woman is translating a book with pictures to a foreigner : "Su trayectoría fue la de un ave cayendo" "he travelled through the way of a fallen bird" (sic). You see some drinks. The bearded man bites his "coloured"sandwich. The time is whispered by you.
The window shows pictures that cross the night. The door with its white curtain do so as well. Nobody stops. But the yellow cabs stop one by one. Nobody will get off. The corner of that street has traffic lights. How many times the cars had brake? What is equivalent to the traffic lights switch? One minute? Two? Three? Eternity.
I feel like I wrote four books, sat in that table. Maybe, one could be "La conversación en La Catedral" (Cathedral's conversation). I wrote the next one in a foreing language. The lady one on the other table translates "Los ángeles y las escaleras defienden las ciudades" "angels and ladders guard the cities" "la nuit" "la noche" (sic) (the night). I'm exhausted. I call the waiter. I order a _mocha: half chocolate, half coffee. I drink it fast and resigned. I stand up and leave the bar. I don't turn around because I don't want to know if anybody comes in, while I turn the corner with the lights in red.
